The idea of combining artificial intelligence and finance is no longer new. But the project Nof1.ai took a literal approach: it launched an experiment where different AI models actually trade on the crypto market, and their results are published online in real-time with full analytics.

Nof1 is a research project founded by former academic Jay A. Zhang.
On the website nof1.ai, he describes it as “the first AI lab dedicated to markets”.
The idea is simple:
If an artificial intelligence model can make money in real market conditions, it means it truly “understands” the world.
As part of the project, the Alpha Arena platform was created, where large language models like GPT-5, Claude Sonnet 4.5, Grok 4, DeepSeek V3.1, and Qwen3 Max trade cryptocurrencies on equal terms โ each received starting capital (about $10,000) and makes trades on real exchanges, including Hyperliquid.
Results are published openly: you can observe which model shows the best returns, what positions are open, and what strategies different AIs use.
This is not a simulation or demo environment, but real trading, where all losses and profits are real.
In the leaders after a couple of days, Deepseek and Grok 4 emerged, having already added about +30% to their deposits. For now, this is probably still coincidental.
